Homework Update
Dear Parents,
We are now entering our 28th week of school in the 2018-2019 school year. I think it is time that we change it up a bit for our homework, as well as how we approach some of the work we are doing in class.
From now on, homework will be a mirror image of classwork. Although spelling will continue for half the class as a daily assignment, I am changing it up by having students do activities specifically tied to their visual understanding of the word, rather than their understanding of how it is used. Below I have attached the Spelling menu we will be using. Vocabulary packets will continue- I am looking for top spellers to graduate into this program!

As far as the reading log is concerned, the average participation of the class has been one third of the class, so I am moving on to a different type of reading assignment. Look for your child's class journal. Everyday, we will be doing some kind of word work and reading studies-everyday we will set up a page that imitates that work so that your child will know what to do if their reading each day. Please feel free to email, call, or come and talk to me about this change.
Finally, for those students who study math with me, we will also be imitating the work we do in class at home-so you should see two pages a day that are for that date-one done in class-the other to be done at home.
I am looking forward to working with your child, revving up our engines as we get ready to finish up the year with a strong showing as the winners we all are:)
Here's to Smooth Sailing!
